 Ilana is a fully trained birth worker (doula) and childbirth educator who received her education through Childbirth International, Birth Advocacy Doula Training, and Women's Choice Perinatal Services. She understands the importance on continuing education, as there is always new information to soak in. She belongs to Evidence-based birth as a pro member keeping her up to date on the latest studies surrounding childbirth. Ilana is also a lactation counselor and understands the importance of supporting and educating the breastfeeding individual as it is crucial to long-term breastfeeding outcomes.

 

After giving birth herself, Ilana felt there was an important figure missing for her, and many women when it comes to the perinatal period. That is when the lightbulb went off, "become a birthworker!" she thought. Ilana knows first hand the misinformation, no information, and an information overload surrounding pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum. She feels called to make sure no other birthing person goes into pregnancy feeling like her and many other people have. That is why genesis was founded, to create space for birthing people, to know they are not alone, have options, are heard by their care team, and their bodies respected.
